You dont remember the early 70s too well do you? A major point of the show is the cultural differences between 1973 and now. Back in the 70s (and 60s and 50s too) beatin up queers was a generally accepted hobby for the tough guy contingent of our society. A big part of the lesson learned is remembering how things were, cant really know where you are if you dont know where youve been. What??? Who doesn't know that? What are you talking about? Are you from Iran that you are just learning that beating up people for ANY reason is wrong?

No it wasn't. You've been brainwashed. Homosexuals were still in the closet, they couldn't be found to be beaten up.

You’re really hung up on this Iran thing. You’re also really hung up on blatantly misreading what somebody wrote.

You might want to read along for more than the month you’ve been here before you start trying to pick a fight like this, okay?
Iran is not the current equivalent of how virile men behaved in the US in the early ‘70’s. They were good men who had no patience for the bad guys and didn’t have to be apologetic about collaring them. Iran appears to take malicious glee in harming people, just to assert their authority. Rather different, yes?
