Can rats even get salmonella? Have you ever seen a clean rat kitchen?

That’ll be $1.00, please.

Well, that offer sucks. The frickin things cost a damn dollar, and now you want a dollar for your advice? I'm better off just running the package of "Peanut Butter Crackers" to New Joiysey and just tossing 'em into the swamps and let Newark's toxic environment deal with the salmonella contamination instead ... otherwise, I'm kinda warming to IrishTenor's idea of dousing 'em in Ronsonal and lighting 'em on fire ... who knows, could become another Jimi Hendrix-at-Monterey thing? /grin

"Flush 'em down the toilet? Nope, any salmonella present could find its way into the water table."

No. The bacteria's normally one of the gut flora of birds and reptiles. Bacteria get filtered out of ground water by the ground itself. Only viruses end up down there.

I’d just eat them.

I'm staring at this package of crackers and wondering what to do with 'em

Just place them in the lunch room, and walk away.

Are you old enough to remember the dime-store turtles that were sold as pets back in the 1960's? Turtles were and still are major carriers of the salmonella bacterium.

So if you can find a turtle to eat your crackers that would be the ideal solution but remember not to touch the turtle.

Could be the next major cooking show. Salmonella ala mode, Salmonella florentine, or something like that.
