Malwarebytes did it (so far anyway, thought I was rid of it before and it came back). Adware and SuperAntiSpyWare previously could identify it but apparently not do anyting about it. I couln’t get to Malwarebyes.org directly. I had to Remote Desktop into work and get it there first. I can now download the McAfee free comcast version, but it still fails on install. Maybe it’s just junk.

Sounds very similar to what I had. Wouldn't let me go to real anti-malware sites. Ended up having to use a proxy server to get there and download the program. I almost had to reformat my hard drive. The whole time, it was blasting audio, telling me about great travel offers. What a nightmare. Anyway, I'm glad yours is fixed (hopefully for good.)
If it re-installs itself on bootup, you can try doing a search for all files created on the day of infection and then delete them one by one if they are related to the infection. I have to do this occasionally when the infection is particularly nasty.
