KUB bucket truck crew rescues dog from tree

Knoxville, TN - Sure you've heard of cats getting stuck in trees, but what about a dog?

Buford, a 5-month-old hound mix, climbed a tree on Tuesday, and no one can figure out how he managed such a feat.

A KUB bucket truck crew rescued Buford from a tree in South Knox County that was more than 20 feet tall. No one saw it happen, but he had managed to find his way to the very top branch.

After doing a lot of coaxing, a KUB worker managed to get Buford into the bucket truck and back down into the waiting arms of his family.

Even in his excited state, Buford still remembered his manners. He walked around and personally thanked all the workers who played a role in his rescue.

The experience apparently was a first for others besides Buford.

"Never seen it in my life. Have you ever seen a dog climb a tree? I sure haven't. This is a first for me," said Tyler Wilson, Buford's owner.

As for the "how, when, and why" surrounding Buford's bizzare predicament? We may never know.

Dogwood tree.
That’s where dogs come from.

Nice find. I have a six year old grandson who has a puppy. Just sent him the article and one of the pix. But, I couldn't copy the pix from the article...Had to copy one from this thread, no problem. I'm using a laptop with Windows XP home edition and using a browser (Seamonkey) similar to Firefox.

Occasionally I run into some read only stuff that can't be copied, but that's obviously not the case here. What are you using? Thanks.

I cheated a bit ... since WBIR cannot be posted, I found the story through another news service. The original story I read is here. I think the pix are on a rrs feed, which is why you may not have been able to copy them ...but I'm not sure exactly.

I always upload images to a server so as not to be bothered with hotlinking issues.

Hope your grandson has great luck with his new "hound" dog ... what breed did he get?

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you mean here. I always upload images to a server... I tried some service talked about on FR a few years ago, but it only kept images for a short while, two weeks or so.

The dog's not actually a puppy, but new to him. Four years old or so. Part lab.

googling the Affenpinscher.

We love the Belgian Sheepdogs, and the Malinois in particular (think we are leaders of a pack of two), but these are very attractive!
