First of all, she should have told McCain before accepting the nomination for VP that there was a situation in her family that could have problems, not after.

Second, there have just been too many flare-ups, problems with people she has worked with, in-law problems. Every week it is another distraction. She really needs a "handler" or she will never be anything above Governor in her career.
