I’d go to the school administration and ask them to cite the legal requirement for you to answer such questions, and also their legal justification to place your child in detention for not returning the form.
If they can’t produce it, I would make it clear that any repercussions in how they treat your child will be challanged. You don’t have to say “law suit”....just leave it at “challanged”. There are organizations that will sue on your behalf if it comes to that.
If we don’t start ‘questioning authority’, they will just continue to grab more without batting an eyelash.
was thinking of doing that, the superintendent has been sending letters home for the last few months wanting parents to get in touch with their local reps for more money.
course he has been harping on about wanting taxes raised etc
so when he had a parents meeting I was listening to this and heard him say about how tax should be raised even though in this county/state we have just voted to lower property taxes
Anyway I got to ask a question and said this
excuse you keep saying that we are heavily underfunded but there is not much money elsewhere anyway and plus we do not want our taxes raised..
course I hear sighs from the crowd etc
I ignored them and preceded to say that the teachers union spent over a hundred million $’s getting their people elected so could you ask them for some money for our schools?
I mean after all they want the best for the kids right
ARF
His jaw dropped and then I went on about how this school is actually doing well, it has nice computers etc and why are us the tax payer paying for your cell phone and bills
after the meeting I got a load of parents coming up to me praising me for that info as they has only heard this superintendents side of things
