An unleashed dog sniffing a leashed dog is a highly dangerous situation. Maybe the owner of the leashed dog knows his dog is dog aggressive and would try to bite the pit bull. No sense in waiting for that to happen.

Do you by any chance have dogs that you allow to roam?

You said that before. Again, we don't shoot things in a city street because of what they might do. We are a nation of laws.

You are out of luck as I do not own a dog but my gun rights could be jeopardized by nuts who shoots first and thinks about it later.
