APPENZELL, Switzerland – Voters in the heart of the Swiss Alps on Sunday passed legislation banning naked hiking after dozens of mostly German nudists started rambling through their picturesque region.
By a show of hands citizens of the tiny canton (state) of Appenzell Inner Rhodes voted overwhelmingly at their traditional open-air annual assembly to impose a 200 Swiss franc ($176) fine on violators.
Only a scattering of people on Sunday opposed the ban on the back-to-nature activity that took off last autumn when naked hikers — primarily Germans — started showing up in eastern Switzerland.

Its good that they banned it, I disagree with nudism as a lifestyle. Clothes protect against sun and insects are help carry stuff you need.

Don’t apologize for no pics. In most cases the people who insist on getting naked in nature are not the people we would want to actually see naked.
I saw a documentary about the old exploitation films that included material about the nudist reels. They said they always had to hire attractive actors to go play the nudists, and keep the actual nudists as far away from the cameras as possible.
Cold? Naw, it’s Europe. That’s why they grow so much hair over there.
Those Germans just can't win fer losing.

I guess the nude hikers aren't purists. Just a bunch of wannabe nudists.
IMO, the nude hiking fine should be tripled if they catch nude hikers wearing socks & shoes.
Nudism was one of the few pastimes generally allowed under the East German commie regime. Still lots of it going on along the eastern Baltic shores. Perhaps they are diversifying to the mountains, now that The Wall has been gone for a while? Nothing wrong with skinny-dipping at the beach IMO, but the mountains?
Sounds like the late 19th century, early 20th century German Wandervogel movement which directly influenced the Hitler Youth.
