The court ordered resolution to a dog attack complaint earlier in the month in Theresa has left the people on both sides with mixed emotions.
Thursday, both the victim and the dog owners expressed feelings of sadness for each other.
On the afternoon of April 19th 70-year-old Linda Wilcox of 109 Commercial Street, Theresa was walking in front of the Riverside Avenue residence of Mary Cook when she was attacked by three pit bull terriers.
The dogs, two female adults and a 4-month-old female puppy, owned by Ms. Cook and her daughter, knocked Mrs. Wilcox to the ground and inflicted several painful, bloody bites.
A passerby came to Mrs. Wilcoxs aid, chased the dogs away and called for help. The man told Mrs. Wilcox they same dogs had attacked him a short time earlier.
Tuesday the two sides met in Town of Theresa Court where Judge George Rollinson ordered the animals to be destroyed. Ms. Cook has until Tuesday, May 5th to comply with the order.
Cook said she is resigned to the impending loss of her pets, but feels the judges decision was extreme.
These pit bulls are really nice dogs theyre just like my kids, said Ms. Cook. Now theyre putting my dogs to sleep and I dont think thats right.
Ms. Cook also regrets the pain suffered by Mrs. Wilcox.
I feel sorry for her, said Cook.
Mrs. Wilcox told NewsWatch50 she is sad for Ms. Cook and her family.
I feel bad that theyve got to put these pets away, and I realize theyre pets, but that kind of dog shouldnt be a pet, said Wilcox. I feel bad for them because I know they are attached to these animals.
If that is a picture of one of the actual dogs, the owners sure didn’t take good care of them...look at the nails, they haven’t been clipped in months....that dog would have had a hard time even walking on linoleum in a house..
Dang, when was the last time that dog had its nails clipped?
These pit bulls are really nice dogs theyre just like my kids, said Ms. Cook. Now theyre putting my dogs to sleep and I dont think thats right.
That woman needs to be slapped.
Legs, boy have you said a mouthful there. They are nice dogs??? Hey stupid, they just tried to kill and eat a woman!!!
Ecce Knucklehead.
What bothers me about these stories is they seldom include any punishment for the owner of dogs that attack people. I have no problem with dogs that attack people being put down; yet behind every vicious dog is a neglectful owner and the owners need to be punished. This owner had no business letting these animals out when not on a leash. The owner did not teach them manners and other important training that she was responsible to do as an owner. If the pictures in this thread are of those dogs then she negleted them as to their general care also.
This owner did not learn a thing, I base that on her stupid statement about her being upset about the dogs being put down. If owners of vicious dog OF ANY BREED are not held accountable then people like this woman will simply get more dogs to neglect and the problem will not be solved.
I can’t figure out what kind of delusional personality you’d have to have to know your dog chased down and attacked someone, and then go around telling people ‘it was like my child’.
Makes you wonder what her kids are like.
Anyone who watches Dog Whisperer knows that guy. lol
I may have missed something (I only read what was posted) but it doesn’t appear the dogs chased her down and attacked her and I don’t think the dogs were trying to eat her. It was really a poorly written story, I can’t tell what happened. I agree with the judges decision to euthanize the dogs, but I’m not sure what happened. Were the dogs loose in the owners front yard? Did they escape from an enclosure?
~~~Update~~~
Looks like thugs run TWO pit-puppy-mills!!!
I saw thug-bud bring 100lbs. of food,,,50lbs. went in
thug-truck and hauled off to,,,?
That’s how they play “hide the dawgs” and
“hide the crack-dealer.”...;0)
The woman was walking in front of the owners house when she was attacked; The man who chased them off said that he had been attacked earlier by the same dogs.
I’m guessing a faulty enclosure, but the report doesn’t say.
I doubt the dogs were trying to literally eat her, but they knocked her down and were chewing on her head. They obviously weren’t serious about their attacks if they were dissuaded so easily, they were probably just having fun, since ‘Mom’ couldn’t provide them with anything else to do.
I hope the owner realizes that everything here, including the death of that poor puppy, is all her fault.
I agree with what you’re saying. I would just like better article writing. Did the owner know the dogs attacked the other person the same day?
OK, a bite is a bite, but looking at the pictures on the site with the article, they were not serious bites (and they don’t look like typical pit bull mauling bites either). Perhaps the attack was stopped very quickly, I don’t know, but the woman is lucky, she doesn’t seem to have any serious injury.
She was lucky...And if this was another breed, perhaps they’d have been given a pass.
Still, I think the judge made the right decision. Hopefully this woman will choose an easier breed next time.
>Cook said she is resigned to the impending loss of her pets, but feels the judges decision was extreme.<
Uh, sorry lady, but you better be darned glad you’re just losing those dogs and not being charged with assault.
Fool, those dogs are dying because you are an idiot who shouldn’t be allowed to own a goldfish, much less a pack of dogs.
They may not have tried to “eat” her exactly, but that’s what I call it when they attack and try to bring down a human being. Sorry if this offends you, but that’s the way it is.
Some folks don’t care if they stomp on the rights of others!
