Dish Network has lost control of their equipment. US Postal Service to be blamed.
In fact, this is the first vanity that I can recall ever doing.
But I'm highly irritated at Dish Network and I'd like to know if any one else has had a problem.
I watch very little TV, but what I do watch is Ch 193, 120, 118, 182 and the HD channels at 363 thru 368, I think.
I'm not positive on the numbers.
Anyway, I started receiving these messages on my TV that I needed to install a new "Smart Card" by 20 Apr 09.
I have never had a Smart Card, so I didn't worry about it.
Well, they cut my programming on 20 Apr 09.
I have talked with Customer Service (a bunch of smart ass non-english speaking know-nothings) and gotten several different responses.
I've been told that they have no control over their system, then told that the "Smart Cards" were mailed out on 17 Mar 09 and the US Postal Service had lost all of them.
I could go on and on but won't.
My question(s):
Is any one else having this problem?
And, if you are, have you found anyone that will respond to your inquiries in a sane, knowledgeable and reasonable manner?
Does anyone know the email addy for the CEO of this corporation?
This is why I switched to DirecTV
They did the smart card routine to me earlier this year. They sent it to me. I got, threw it away, lost the bird, then called Dish and canceled. No TV, never been happier.
you don’t watch channel 195 (the military channel)? that’s a shame.
I received & loaded my smart cards and it works fine.
I hate dish, switched back to direct!
Dish’s lousy customer service is why I switched to DirecTv 8 yrs ago. I can see from your post that they haven’t changed a bit.
I got my smart cards.
I recieved my smart cards, installed them and smooth sailing!

No, but there is a guy selling 300,000 Dish SmartCards with all programs activated for $99. Says he found them on the side of the road.
I got mine with no prolem, last fall.
I didn't have one before, so the notice wasn't only for people who already had one. Also, the card was just a thin plastic thing that came in an envelope that looked like junk mail, so you might have just thrown it out without opening it.
Their FAQ page says you can just call them to get a new one:
"Q. What if I lost my smart cards? A. If you are sure you have lost your smart cards please call 1-888-230-7836 to have new smart cards sent to you. Please remember: Each new smart card is specifically coded to a specific receiver."

I have rabbit ears and get three channels, of course I supplement it with DSL ;-)

I just received via mail smart cards for my Dish receiver a month ago and i couldn’t Understand why I needed them.
I installed the cards and things are working fine.
I just wish that Dish TV would explain why those cards are needed as I have been using Dish TV for the last 3 years.
