A Pennsylvania high school ordered more than 450 shot glasses for its prom, a move the assistant principal now says sent the wrong message.
As the Warwick High School students left last week's dance, the prom committee handed them souvenir shot glasses. The girls who attended last year's prom got a picture frame; the boys, a money clip.
Assistant Principal Scott Galen says: "Unfortunately, this year the junior class didn't have quite as much money."
Galen says the principal signed off on the purchase order, but that paperwork simply said "prom souvenir" and didn't identify the mementos as shot glasses. Galen says he's certain this will never happen again.
Shot Glasses Engraved for a School or College End of Year Prom.
A stupid headline. It makes it look like the high school officials actually purchased these and not the prom committee. Besides who cares. They gave out champaign glasses at ours and one year a “beer” mug. This story does not even deserve any attention.
Every year during the school fund raisers, the school store sold enormous glass beer mugs with the school mascot screen printed on the side. This was the mug you took to the kegger parties every weekend. You could even have your name etched into the mug, as well as your athletic number. I still have that too.
Most California high schools offered this sort of promo item. Every time I see a movie depicting high school teenage years in California from the 80s or earlier, I never see the high school alcohol paraphernalia of school mascot beer mugs although it was as common as dirt.
Only now in the age of the common sissy liberal twit does a school shot glass make national news as some sort of outrage.
We visited a church a few months ago that gave these away with the churches name and “Give us a shot” on the glass.
My Baptist granny would have passed out at the thought.
Graduated from a HS near Warwick over 10 years ago. We weren’t even allowed to have glasses or mugs that were filled with wax and made into candles because it could condone drinking.
Didn’t really matter to us, we were all smoking weed. Nobody cards for weed
I have seen people put jello in these shot glasses....It makes for a very festive look.....there isn’t any harm in jello....it jiggles and wiggles......
Seriously, this is a none story.....if there are concerns this will promote the consumption of alcohol by teens.....well I bet they already are.......
for our proms: one yr. brandy glass, next yr. champagne flute, third year a wine glass. big deal. i guess the 80’s weren’t as anal about little stuff like that.
jello shots!!! make jello with part water, part vodka. chill in shot glasses. don’t drink/eat to many or you puke in technocolor.
