As the parent of an Eagle Scout, welcome to the club. I’ve always felt that there should be a scouting award for parent(s).

My husband sends his congrats. He’s an Eagle Scout as well. I’m already on the look out for good project ideas for our son, who’s 18 months old.
Excellent work by your son!

Congrats on your son becoming an Eagle Scout. You mentioned your son wanting to attend the Air Force Academy. FReep mail me and I can give you a few hints on achieving that honor. I know the recruiter/interviewer for the West Coast who is attached to the Air Force Academy.

My son’s a Webelo 2, so Eagle’s a ways off. But I do realize what an accomplishment it is. It’ll look great on his resume. What’s the Scout rally cry? Hoo-rah? Semper Fi? Hamana hamana? Well congrats, anyway.

Congratulations to your son! I remember how proud we were of our son when he made Eagle Scout at 16.

As an Eagle Scout and an Air Force Retiree, I honor and salute your son and you.
Obtaining Eagle Scout publicly demonstrates a first step into mature adulthood. Living by the principles of the
Scout Oath, The Scout Law, The Scout Motto and the Scout Slogan will put you at odds with much of today's culture. But they will serve you far better that most any other advice you will be given in your life.
Camping under a star-filled sky, living a few days every month or so for several years depending only on yourself and your fellow scouts to provide the necessities of life; selecting 21 or more subjects or skills to study and achieve personal competence; and demonstrating your willingness to give of yourself for the benefit of others, unselfishly, are all tasks that an Eagle Scout has accomplished while pursuing his award. These are a source of pride that can be a foundation for a life of happiness and satisfaction in service.
My prayer is that your son will reflect on them from time to time, see the benefits in applying them for the rest of his life and encourage his sons and other boys to follow the path taken by him and many other to sound leadership in the future.

Fantastic! I made it to Star Scout before I stupidly quit, thinking the Scouts weren’t very cool.

The closest I ever got to scouting was a subscription to Boys Life. I used to love that magazine.

Congrats from an Eagle Scout (1/4/82) to the parent of another. The best part of earning my Eagle in '82 is the Honorary Presidential* signature on the card...(I still have the card in my wallet.)

“..... thinking the Scouts werent very cool.”
Well, it wasn’t cool 40 years ago either. But that’s really the point (and it really is “cool” that you recognize it now). What’s perceived by society as being fashionable, is often at odds with what is truly valuable to the individual boy and the community he exists within. That’s the beauty of the whole scouting experience. It transcends popular culture, even though popular culture has never been amused by it.
No, an Eagle scout doesn’t get swarmed by the chicks, but what it does for you throughout your life more than compensates for that limited temporal benefit.

Baden-Powell said it was "DYB" -- "Do Your Best".
I have a scratchy old recording of B-P leading a bunch of English Scouts in a cheer of "DYB - DYB - DYB". Very inspiring.
Congrats on your son's Eagle rank (and congrats are due to you too for helping him along the way.)
