Heinlein.

Books from before Libertarianism discarded personal responsibility from the ideology.

I left when personal responsibility left.

Oh please, we know there are conservatives in those states, but the vast majority of transplants from blue states bring their liberalism with them. Dallas County is now firmly blue, it wasn’t just a few years ago. Even Denton County, where I live was as Red as can be, but in my neighborhood, I saw more Obama signs than McCain signs, this was unthinkable as few years ago.

"you mean except for the hundreds of thousands of illegals that go to school there, use your hospitals etc? all of ny is NOT trash."

They actually pay taxes and do not vote. We have no income tax so state revenue is generated through sales taxes. Liberal Americans flocking here do get to vote. That ain't good padner!

Move down here to Montgomery. We have a local bar here that looks like Buffalo on Fall Sundays. Sometimes it seems like every other person I meet is from WNY.

I escaped Buffalo over 30 years ago. Still am a diehard Bills and Sabres fan.

“Dallas County is now firmly blue, it wasn’t just a few years ago.”

And you think this is because of migration from blue States?

“29.87% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.”

That’s not from up North my friend

Last time I checked, illegals don’t vote.

Actually Mexicans are more socially conservative than white liberals anyway.

My sister lived for 5 years in Texas.

One of the Biggest ‘libs’ I know.

I’ve never been one to put up with her ‘politics’ or ‘meddling’ when she felt she was ‘right’ and I was ‘wrong’.

And I don’t suffer other liberals well either.

Two of my sisters are ‘liberal’ and one is Libertarian.

My brothers on the other hand, have the ‘conservative’ attitude.

Probably from serving in the Army and Navy.

Avid hunters too.

I never served unfortunately, but am of the same mindset.

Don’t hunt tho. Probably cause my brothers were the ‘hunters’ and I was the ‘dresser’.

At 8 years old, cleaning pheasants was no fun.

Don’t worry I lived many years in Baton Rouge before I had to move to Buffalo for work. I you do some research before inserting foot in mouth, Upstate NY would rather seperate from NY city due to that sucking sound draining upstate. There have been many proposals that wanted to seperate the state @ albany. We hunt love our guns and drive trucks up here. This is a whole different world than downstate. They call us a bunch of hill billy rednecks up here, but they sure take our money every year.

Didn’t you mean to say the Country of Texas is going to close it’s borders?

Maybe not from North, but a lot from California. Now maybe New Yorkers are less arrogant than people from California, we’ll see.

I am originally from NYS and I can tell you most people upstate are modest living, conservative people....I have family there that is very conservative and vote straight Pub or conservative ....( I also have the liberal side too)....

like California...its an OBSCENE shame what has happend to the state....NYS is a BEAUTIFUL state.....so much farmland and lovely orchards and lots of lakes and they have moose and bear and deer galore.....I would bet they have more trees than Washington State and maybe Oregone....both those states have huge tracts of dry desert.

NYS has a rich ethnic heritage that I am afraid is losing out to the leftist garbarge...

Gee, hurry up New Yorkers. You want to be gone by 2010. If 25% of New Yorkers left, New York would lose eight congressional districts. Since few of those leaving because of the onerous tax burden are likely to move to any of the neighboring states (Connecticut, Mass(ghanistan)achusetts, Ver(min)Mont, New Jer(k)sey, or Pennsyl(vio)vania), it is possible that more conservative states will gain those eight congressional districts.

But, alas, considering leaving and actually leaving tend to be two different things.

Most of the time I just chalk it up to them not knowing that all ‘New Yorkers’ are NOT from the City.

There is a WHOLE STATE above that!

But it can be annoying.

From the article, worth noting:

Despite the problems in Albany this session, New Yorkers say they want the Democrats to continue control of the State Senate, which they took over in January after 70 years of GOP dominance. Fifty-seven percent want the Senate to remain Democratic, compared to 37 percent who do not. There are nearly twice as many Democrats as Republicans in the state, according to state election board records.

Central Virginia is beautiful, relatively inexpensive and a few more conservatives could swing the very narrow balance back to the Good Side.
