Freddie Prinze Jr. as Jack Bauer Jr.?

Sources said Prinze is joining the cast of Fox's "24" as a regular, playing Davis Cole, a recently returned Marine who runs CTU Field Ops and wants to follow in Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) footsteps.

On the real-time drama, whose upcoming eighth season started production Wednesday, Prinze joins fellow new cast additions Anil Kapoor, who plays a Middle East leader; Chris Diamantopoulos, as the president's new chief of staff; and John Boyd as a CTU systems analyst. All of them are regulars, while Jennifer Westfeldt has come aboard as a recurring, playing a a journalist.

Also cast as a recurring on the 20th TV/Imagine series is Nazneen Contractor as Kapoor's daughter.

Prinze, repped by ICM and Brillstein, recently co-starred on the ABC comedy pilot "No Heroics."

Hopefully his Puerto Rican heritage from his father’s side will bring a lot of richness of experience and empathy to the role that a white man wouldn’t have been able to.

I’d rather the girl who played Velma be on the show than Garafalo.......

And c’mon 24 would be great with a stoner like shaggy for Jack Bauer to make fun of all the time!! LOL

...wants to follow in Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) footsteps.

Okay, so we know from the start that he's doomed to a massive and humiliating failure.

Who cares, I have watched 7 seasons and no more political correctness for me, get enough of that from the rest of media and our miserable politicians. So long, Bauer and your greenies with your portrayal of terrorists as caucasian americans. This show has become nothing more than an condemnation of those who are fighting to protect the US from Islamic extremists.

The story is that she is out, and CTU is back and is apparently now in New York City.

I certainly hope so. I wrote the show several months ago expressing my feelings... in a polite way... and that I would not be watching or supporting as long she (it) was there.

AFAIK, the only show that features muslim terrorists anymore is NCIS.

One of the worst PC copouts was in the show NUMB3RS, in which an apparent Arab terrorist turned out to be an Irish white dude in makeup and disguise...

Yeah, gotta agree with you; it’s pretty pathetic that the Bad Guys always seem to be the same, old Evil White Males the Left so loves to vilify. In seven seasons, Moslems have been terrorists only two or three years - as opposed to reality, when it’s virtually ALWAYS them.

And this season, it was even worse. The muslims turned out to be good guys, and Jack basically apologized to them.

Good riddance, 24.
