Man.. I am just SICK. I had Summer Bird in my SuperFecta in 2,3, and 4... but, not in 1.
Earlier in the day, I noticed that Desmoreaux was winning a bunch of races... a good sign on Belmont day.. but, I wasn’t sure who he was riding.
I just got home from playing golf, turned on the TV to see that Kent was on Summer Bird, and I went to TVG to put $3 across on him... but, I didn’t get the bet made in time.
So...I win “butkus”... oh well, it was just $18.
Very interesting race..
Back to work to MTM (Mine That Money) so I can enjoy some equestrian futures next weekend. Hope someone made some $ today. Will check back later. Adios.
I had Summer Bird on top in a $10 exacta with Mine That Bird in today’s race. The second finisher (Dunkirk) was very nearly DQ’d. The exacta *would have* paid $54. That *would have* been $270 back for a $10 bet.
Remember this from Kentucky Derby day? ...
“Summer Bird is a powerful finisher. He has only 3 prior starts and so is really fresh for this race. Oh, did I mention he’s 50-1 on the program! The odds of course will change as the betting takes place. He’ll probably go down to about 20 or 30 to 1.”

(sorry for the double posting, but that older thread isn’t so active anymore)
I woulda thought that the super would pay more, Tim. I’m surprised...but on 2nd thought maybe not. I never play supers, rarely tri’s, usually perfectas...and I have a hard enough time with them...
2009 Belmont payouts (exotic betting)
$2 EX (4/2) paid $121.00
$2 TRI (4/2/7) paid $295.00
$2 SPR (4/2/7/6) paid $852.00
Probably a lot of gamblers wheeled MTB in their supers 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th...which kept the payout low. How much would it cost to wheel a horse for $1 super in such a field?
Not sure... A $1 Super-wheel of 1 horse with 6 cost $120. So, to wheel 9 would be pretty expensive.
I rarely ever bet a Super. On a big race like this, I'll sometime take a shot on the $0.10 kind. You get lots of combos for not much cost.
Apparently though, I still don't know how to do it right... adding Summer Bird to the #1 spot would have cost me less than $5. :-(
Oh well... it always looks easy in hindsight.
FYI...did you see this? I think I bet on this guy in a simulcast race...

...I hope to golf or catch a few races Friday at the local simulcast track.
