This is promising, launching July 4.
Hope they do a good job in truly vetting suppliers.
Only if the prices are reasonable..
I wonder if it will be union sponsored and run.
How many unions will benefit from this? Protectionism is fun.
As long as it’s not Assembled in the U.S.A. with parts from China.
I’m sure this voluntary action will be accused of being protectionist...this should be good.
And the quality is high, and the labor is non-union.
” with parts from China.”
As long as the parts are okay, if the item is cheaper who cares?
All I want to know, is Obama listed as being made in the USA?
Will check out the site. We need to start making things here in the states again.
I’m not sure I favor this. Each of us, should buy the most value of money product regardless of country. Thats what being good capitalist. Goods that sell cheaply at a quality you’re willing to pay are products that are built efficiently with limited resources and labor. We should reward these businesses NOT subsidies American made ones by overpaying for them. We’re rewarding bad behavior either by business or by government regulations
Right..
You have it exactly right. It is like bailing out GM and Chrysler but not addressing their underlying business problems. We need to focus on making American businesses more competitive by cutting government spending, curbing union power, keeping a stable currency, and reducing regulation.
I think it’s useful info in making a purchase decision.
I’m not going to buy a piece of junk just because it’s made in the US.
But if my choices are close, I’d prefer supporting the American firm, even if it’s a small amount extra, especially if we’re talking small items like toys or whatnot.
I understand your point about not “rewarding bad behavior” but competing with 50 cent/hr overseas labor is another matter.
Furthermore, I’m simply fed up with the awful quality of most Chinese junk.
How do we know this isn’t just some data collection site?
This is why:
The Mysterious Radioactive Cheese Grater
Every time a truckload of scrap metal arrives at Genesee Recycling in Flint the metal is screened by radiation monitors.
In August the alarms went off sending workers scrambling with hand-held radiation detectors to find the contaminated item. Surprisingly their detectors led them to this simple kitchen utensil.. a cheese grater.. stamped with the words Made In China.
Will they indicate which products are not made by unions and therefore will be of acceptable quality?
Or foreign owned companies which manufacture in the US and employ US workers like Toyota? Some foreign owned companies do more for the US than companies here.
Isn’t that a contradiction of terms?
