That I do agree, but keep in mind he had separated from his wife, moved out of the house, finished a grueling state budget session and just wanted to get the “heck out of Dodge”. So from his viewpoint it was a confusing private matter, but his opponents didn’s see it that way.

The fact she didn't forgive her husband and threw him out two weeks ago after he confessed tells you a little something about her. I've heard many a sermon in my time where the minister preaches forgiveness for situations just like this. She chose not to forgive. And the rest is history.

Disgusting. If you have a bad marriage, then get the damn divorce before you go have an affair and use what you don't like about your wife as an excuse. They'd rather just take what they want and try to get away with it, and then let the wife divorce them after they've shat all over the marriage vows they obviously had no respect for. And judging by his arrogant and phony weirdness at his press conference, Mrs. Sanford would be better off without him.

We see it all the time as a favorite MO of the Democratic Party, CAIR, ACLU, etc, etc.

You made the argument that a man might be essentially driven into the arms of another woman by a distasteful wife.

The Clinton scenario fits your criteria for justifying adultery, hence the assumption holds water.

I gave an alternate scenario as to the reason he sought love and comfort in another woman's arms.

I, in no way "justified" anybody's behavior, be it Clinton or Sanford or any of my neighbors or associates. You make that leap on your own. I suggested an alternate scenario as to the reason this happened, not as an excuse for it happening.

And to my original point, there is another, and perhaps stronger organ that could be just as guilty of causing people, be it men or women, not to think clearly. And that is the heart.

I agree completely. How humiliating it must have been for the wife that built his career and had his four kids to hear him talk of the mistress as a “dear, dear friend”. He seemed to have lost his mind completely and not to deeply care about the anguish he has caused to his family. As for the mistress, I agree she must be a slut and an opportunist. She must have felt very important sleeping with a US governor and asking favors for her son. She even talked to him about the other men she is dating hoping to make him jealous so that he can leave his family. Any woman that breaks a family of six is nothing but a slut without any moral foundation. Excuse my language. As for him, traveling on unauthorized trip to Argentina: too bad when decisions are not made with the big head. This is totally unprofessional. He is a fool believing of a true love with his mistress. If you truly love someone you would not lead them to their distruction, you will put their interest first. In this case, she destroyed both his family and career. I doubt both will recover completely. The blow was too hard. What gets me is that he went to Argentina after his wife discovered the affair and asked him not to. If he goes for the mistress, he will find his life empty and end wretchedly.
