That certainly could be, but does not answer the real qustion, why did she go to Africa in the first place. Not saying there is not a perfectly legitimate answer, only I don’t know what it would be.

Although True Believers deny that any newlyweds would ever do this, the theory is that Stanley Ann and her new hubby went to visit the new in-laws on their honeymoon. Stanley Ann (who the Kenyan in-laws knew as Anna Toot) was already in her second trimester, and they stayed in Kenya just a little too long. When she wanted to return to Hawaii to whelp, she was too preggers for the airlines to take the risk of a mid-ocean emergency childbirth at 20,000ft.

Therefore she couldn't get back to the states until after whatever-his-real-name-is was born.

This would explain why the first recorded sighting of itty-bitty baby Barak was 2500 miles from Honolulu, and on the most probable route from Kenya to Hawaii.

What mother would travel with a newborn if there wasn't a compelling reason?

Insuring US citizenship might be a compelling enough reason.

It isn’t like Kenya was such a ducky place,

Stanley Anna seems to have had a positive desire to live in 3rd world muslim hell-holes. After her divorce from Barrak Sr., she left Hawaii to marry a muslim and live in Indonesia.

the old man was delighted to be away from it.

A fact not in evidence. He moved back to Kenya as soon as he could. (FWIW, he lived three doors down from a current colleague of mine).

He stayed in Kenya until his death, with an American education he could have gone pretty much anywhere else on earth.

“He stayed in Kenya until his death, with an American education he could have gone pretty much anywhere else on earth.”

That’s true, but I was referring to his desire for a prestigious American education. As “newlyweds” I have doubts about that too. Another thing there does not seem to be a record of (their marriage, I mean), though there is apparently some kind of record of their divorce????

I’m not saying I do not believe they were in Kenya when Obama was born, only that it seems strange to me, even if it’s true. I’d be delighted if it’s proved.

Hank
