Church of England bishop says gays should ‘repent’

A senior Church of England bishop has angered gay-rights campaigners by saying homosexuals should repent.

Archbishop of Rochester Michael Nazir-Ali told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper that the Bible defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman. He said the church welcomed gay people, "but we want them to repent and be changed."

Nazir-Ali is a leading member of the conservative wing of the global Anglican Communion, which is riven by divisions over homosexuality and the ordination of women.

Gay groups condemned the bishop's remarks. Campaigner Peter Tatchell said Nazir-Ali's view "goes against Christ's gospel of love and compassion."

And Derek Munn of gay-rights group Stonewall accused the bishop of promoting inequality and intolerance.

When they tried to stone the woman, Jesus said those without sin cast the first stone..... AND He told the woman "go and sin no more". Like the second part of the first amendment, libs always leave out that part.

Jesus endorsed The Law which prohibits homosexuality, and even Paul later applied it in his writings. But these mixed nuts and fruits evidently feel The Bible has erred, thus their pick-n-choose, uh.... Well, it isn't theology.

But you know EVERYBODY “picks and chooses” to some extent when it comes to the Bible. We’re all cafeteria Christians. The people who cite Leviticus to condemn homosexuality probably think nothing of wearing cotton-silk blends and are perfectly happy to eat shrimp and probably don’t think children should be put to death for sassing their parents.

I’m Noachide. I do not wear cotton with silk. I keep kosher and would ask you to cite an example of when and where in The Bible children were actually put to death for sassing their parents.

Given the roots of the Church of England the irony of them getting upset about sexual sin is rich.
