To create a life form from another life form is cloning, is it not?

Cloning is genetic duplication of an existing organism. What these researchers did was create a gamete (sperm) which would need to be combined with another gamete (egg) in order to develop into a new organism, and that organism would not be genetically identical to either of the organisms whose genetic material was used to produce the gametes.
