HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST (Morgana's Vanity)
July 31, 2009 | Morgana Leslie

Posted on 07/31/2009 9:13:35 AM PDT by Morgana

George Phillips , an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me..

Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available."

George said, "Okay."

He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them." and he hung up.

Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George , "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

(True Story) I LOVE IT! Don't mess with old people.

Although this is quite funny the police do prioritize their calls and may not even be in the vicinity. Also, the police could charge these type of calls with a false report. Not a good thing to do even if it is funny.

Virtually the same thing happened here except it was a bear that was charging a homeowner in broad daylight. The fish cops said they couldn’t get anybody there for about 2 hours. So he shot the bear and called them back. Within 20 minutes, there were 5 units there.

Shoot them with a camera and tell 911 you shot them, and then hang up, say you meant you shot them with a Camera if they ask you about it when they get there. It might hold up in court so the stupid DA doesn’t decide to make an example out of you.

Technically is it a happy ending if the bad guys dont get shot?

Not sure but here goes:

Ping = shooting a BB gun

Plink = shooting a .22

Bang = shooting a 9mm

KaBoom - shooting a 12 gauge

I hope this helps ;-)

Technically no it is not a happy ending.

In the real world perps end up taking a dirt nap (thus saving the tax payers a tidy sum in housing these oxygen thieves) ie the Happy ending to a carbon unit that is a danger to society.

Murphy's rules for combat #6, clearly states:

When in doubt, empty the clip

While fun, it’s absurd. You couldn’t assemble and deploy a SWAT team in 5 minutes.

It is only a modestly cheerful ending since the perps probably made bail easily and are out stealing again. A delightful ending would have involved the deputy coroner pronouncing two perps dead at the scene.

In Texas there was a man who was kept on 911 talking with the desk clerk while he watched robbers going through his neighbor’s house. He made headlines because he told the woman on the phone that he was going to shoot them if they posed a risk to him. They came towards his property and he shot them dead.

There was an officer on scene who witnessed this. He was sitting safely in his car waiting before backup before he would act.

You are basically on your own. They are there to do the paperwork and investigation.

You might if you said “officer down!” (meaning an officer had been shot at the scene).

The DA in Houston charged a man who shot a home invader in his home. The man beat the rap but the driver wasn’t charged and the shooter couldn’t even learn the identity of this other man who engaged in criminal conspiracy to enter his home.

When asked how he should handle any retribution he may get from this or other men in the criminal enterprise, the city (Houston) advised him to circle the block a couple times every time he came home.

We prefer to be known as 2nd Amendment lovers. Guns are tools, not to be loved. Try to remember the central issue.

When the cops are not the only guns in town, they respond to competition. Imagine the complacence if nobody else had a gun.

The achilles heel of all gun control efforts has always been “response time.” And, even with police actually on the scene, there are no guarantees; reference the killing of four police officers in Oakland, CA, and of three in Pittsburgh.

No doubt about what you say and I remember that. The police exist to protect government. In fact, there is a S. Ct opinion on it and if you want that info I will ask my husband what the link is and post it.

Quote — One of the Policemen said to George , “I thought you said that you’d shot them!” George said, “I thought you said there was nobody available!”

Well, that’s a funny one... but I wouldn’t necessarily advise someone using it... it could get you in trouble.

BUT... there is a way to get the police to respond fast and not get yourself in trouble, too. I’ve had to call the police several times before and needed them there fast, and all you have to do (when they ask and they usually do, about someone being armed) — is say, “I’m not sure, but I thought I saw a gun there, but I’m not positive... “

At least that will get them there fast... and not get you in a lot of hot water... :-)
