FREDERICKSBURG — Spotsylvania County authorities say a 60-year-old woman and her Labrador were attacked by a pit bull owned by her son.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office says the woman suffered numerous bites and broke her shin bone and finger during the Sunday attack. Her dog was euthanized because of life-threatening injuries.

The victim originally stated that she was walking her dog when a dog ran toward her and started attacking her dog. Authorities canvassed the area in an attempt to locate the dog, but were unable to find the animal.

An anonymous tip led authorities to the victim’s son, Michael Baggett, who told police his pit bull attacked his mother and her dog.

Why in the world would she lie for a dog that’s responsible for the death of her dog and her injuries?! Some people are idiots!

because despite injuring her badly and killing her Lab, the pit bull is really a misunderstood sweet little puppy wupkin love muffin that was provoked, or did not mean it.... or more likely, her son who owns it as a violent meth/crack addict and she feared what he would do if she reported his precious pit bull to the authorities.

Those are assumptions based on no facts.

Good night.

A couple of years ago, a large pit bull showed up in my yard. I wasn’t sure what to do but the dog actually was friendly, not that I was going to keep him or anything.

Suddenly my Lab mix mutt attacked the Pit Bull and to my amazement held his own. He probably would not have except the pit bull kept getting his teeth caught up in the mutt’s collar. Both dogs were amazingly vicious.

I was going to shoot the bulldog but could not get a clear shot then the pit bull gave up and ran off. I decided my mutt was a better dog than I had given him credit for.

I don’t care what anyone says, that is a darling puppy!

The only personal experience I’ve had with Pit bull pups was on a beach in MI. A puppy as darling as that one loved me to pieces. He was such a sweetie.

(he did bite me and drew blood, but was still cute!)

Such attacks are rare. (At least that’s what I’ve been told repeatedly.)

Remember the old program/movies "The Little Rascals" and their dog was a Pit Bull. Very sweet, gentle dogs that used to be so popular in those days with no tarnished history.

That was before thugs, hoodlums, and types who want to get rich on the dogs' misery started training and breeding them to be aggressive. It is a shame. The bloodline has probably been harmed forever although I know some can be very sweet. But, personally, I would find it hard to have one around my little minature poodle. So sad.

Pit Bulls...if, upon reincarnation, they came back as humans, THEY WOULD LIVE IN DETROIT....OR, CHICAGO!

I got bit in the foot by a Maltese.

He and his sister were tied together in the owner’s backyard. They got loose and wrapped themselves around my front tree. They were sweet and loving, giving me tons of kisses.

Took them home and when I knocked on the door, the male growled and bit me.

Box of rocks came to mind.
