Especially if he’s not going to have to help raise the kid. Women, on the other hand, invest much into each offspring, so they have to be choosier. They get fewer chances to pass on their genes.
Also, short, fat, bald guys have a harder time overcoming their disadvantaged appearance if a long-term sharing of resources isn’t at stake.
