‘Tis the season! Hopefully it will pretty much be the boring one some have forecasted, with enough storms to keep us interested, and not enough to do major damage.

Rapid development is much less important today than the storm strength in 2-5 days when Ana is threatening land. Either way, I don’t think you have much to worry about in Tennessee at this point.

A boring season is the best kind of tropical storm season.

True, but those storms tend to cause some pretty bad mudslides in the mountains. Of course the 120kt winds are long gone. Prayers on this trio headed your way.

Wifey and I toured - by way of Camry - pretty much the entire Gulf Coast from Corpus to Fort Myers, and then over to Ft. Pierce and up thru Jax this past May and June......once we got over the Lovebug phenomenon, we’d muse along the way about how we hoped we don’t have to moan about how these “were” once beautiful areas.

We have to stop meeting like this, NautiNurse. I couldn’t imagine a hurricane season without your threads. ;^)

I remember your lovebug story!

No telling what would happen from a nasty storm these days with the economy in the tank, and Florida property insurance in worse trouble. Florida has a state insurance pool that was originally established as the property insurance of last resort. Eventually, it was competing with private property insurance carriers, who then folded or pulled out of the state. Of course, the state fund (Citizens) is woefully underfunded.

Other than that, Obama's Health Care debacle has nothing to learn from Florida's property insurance experience.

No bet here. Wanna book anything on that low spinning into the northeast Gulf (and currently making our sky outside look ominous) getting it's own NHC license plate within 48 hours?

Nauti - that's how it's done, and that's how Zero is going to drive private insurance out of business.....our thing here in California is Earthquake insurance.

We chose a company other than the "state" at a much lower premium/deductible....all well and good for one year.

We got our renewal this year, and the company stated that they were 'required by the state' to value our home at something like $800,000 and the premium would be raised accordingly.

We didn't renew - went with the sh*tty state program with minimal benefits. Phock 'em all.

PS - the Camry still has a few lovebug scars, but we wear them with honor. I wanted to plasticize the one single unhooked "loser" that was still in the grill, but the poor bastard disentegrated.

My employer lives just off Atlantic. There is never a delay in restoring his power, but in my quirky Riverside neighborhood, it can be over a week. Fortunately, he loans me his generator before my meat defrosts, which is powerful enough to run fridge and AC, while the gas that powers my stove and water heater never are affected. I stocked up on pork/beef and chicken this week. Best snag a deal was Winn Dixie. Lindemans wine 2 for $10.00, with 10% off wyb 6, and a $15.00 rebate = $2.50 per bottle. If my power goes out, I won't have to be sober in the dark. (It's five o'clock somewhere.)

Yeah it cranked up last night wit h some pretty good gusts, tree damage in the hood etc.,lasting most of the day ruining fishing prospects.

At least its cooling the water.

Two weeks ago water temps vacillated between 96 and 100 degrees in the backcoutnry of Fla. Bay and we had a pretty big fish kill for a couple of days so this all will actually help.

How wonderful for you and him! Keep up the good work. One year on Monday is my date of initial surgery. Today was the day the doc told me the bad news so I am so grateful to be here and in remission!!!
