If my friend John introduces me to a man by saying "This is my husband Simon." - has he thrust his sex life in my face? Yeah pretty much. This happen to you a lot?

I think it's going to be happening in the future. Even if civil marriage for gays doesn't spread beyond the states that it is currently already in it seems reasonable that I'll encounter these sorts of things. More gay couples will get married over time and they will move about the country for jobs, to be close to family, tourism, etc. I own a business that brings me into contact with strangers and tourists on a daily basis. I've met two or three gay couples that way in the past year. I don't see why that number will go down. Two of those were Canadian but I don't think that makes much difference.
My question is why isn't Jane thrusting her sex life in my face if she introduces me to her husband Simon? Its essence is the same - introducing me to somebody they have joined in a legal civil marriage. Why should it be ok for anybody to thrust their sex life in my face?
