Marriage is a union between one man and one woman, an arrangement ideal for the likely offspring.

It is also a tenet of religion, government should have absolutely no role in it.

We're all set here, take your crazy talk somewhere else.

I agree. There is a distinction to be made between civil marriage and religious marriage. I certainly treat marriage as a sacrament instituted by Christ - and the state has no place in that.

That being said... I still recognize civil marriages and marriages conducted in other faiths. Not as part of the same institution but rather as a legal union. It doesn't meet my religious test but why should it? As a Catholic I don't reocgnize divorce as licit but I recognize the legal reality of it. Similar principle.

Actually I think the crazy talk is the suggestion that when somebody introduces you to a legal spouse they are thrusting their sex life in your face. Somebody introducing you to a legal spouse shouldn't immediately conjure images of their sex life first thing. I mean ewwwww. I think that's just ick to go there immediately. When I introduce granny and gramps to people I hope they don't do that. Same for mom & dad. Eww. Inquiring minds shouldn't be on those matters.
