We loved Favre when he played in Green Bay, but the drama queen stuff has grown awfully tiresome.

Amen to that.

I'm going over to Lambeau tonight to watch practice. I wouldn't be surprised to see a record turnout.

I was a Favre fan for years. But I'll ALWAYS be a Packers fan.

Yeah he hurt us. They really cremated us last year. I think the team to watch out for this year is the Ravens though. The last time a team started a rookie QB and went all the way to the conference finals only to lose to the eventual SB champ that SB champ was you guys winning XXXIX and we all know what those AFC champ losers did the next year ;) I see a lot of similarities last year’s Ravens and the Steelers of 5 seasons ago, whether or not those similarities march through this year we have yet to see, but I won’t be surprised.

Since this is the only NFL thread going: who else thought last night's game between the Giants and Panthers was the best pre-season game ever?

Vikings make it to NFC Championship

I read similar boasts from Jets fans concerning the AFC Championship last year. All Brett is doing is embarrassing himself.

Smart money is Favre produces a good first half of the season, and then becomes a liability in the second half, as he did when he single handedly kept the Jets out of the playoffs last year.

He’s going to end up like Kenny Stabler did in New Orleans his last couple of seasons, diminished.

Remember the Sunday before Thanksgiving when they beat the Titans? All the following week SportsCenter was talking about an all New York Super Bowl.

If Brett hadn’t torn up his arm they had a chance. Favre is only about fifteen months older than Kurt Warner.
If he’d just either play or retire I don’t think most people would think about his age so much. They’re just tired of the drama.

i met montana a number of years ago in a professional capacity. probably the nicest sports star i have ever met (tied with jerome bettis).

While I've never met Joe Montana, I've always had the feeling that what you see is what you get, no matter where he is, or under what conditions.

all joe wanted to talk about was horses. nothing really about himself. and he was interested in what other people had to say and was asking more questions than giving answers. it was kind of annoying since i wanted to talk football.

LOL, kinda like the Apollo astronauts getting tired of talking about the Moon.

on the other hand, joe theismann is a total %$)#@&!!!

Well I have to come to Joe Theismann's defense on this one, when I was in Washington not long after the 'Skins won Super Bowl 17 against Miami. There was a life long fan of Washington that I worked with, a fine man who had terminal cancer but he lived long enough to watch Washington win it's first Super Bowl victory, he died in February '83 but he and his wife were long time season ticket holders, they were on a first name basis with many of the team members, knew Jack Kent Cooke personally (but I'm not mentioning their name out of respect for their privacy), but when the word got out that my friend had died, it was Joe Theismann who got many if not all of the regular team players to not only attend the funeral but they served as pallbearers, and there was not a dry eye in the house.

Joe might indeed be an %$)#@& as you say, but on the day I met him, he was a perfect Christian gentleman.

Yep... no one is more important than the game.

Can you imagine being a young player already to play football for the Vikings, but you're cut to make room for Favre?

i'm glad you had a nice experience with theisman.

i guess the impression i got was that he's nice to people who he perceives are on his level. if you are another player or, in your story, close friends with the boss, then he's a nice guy. but i only met him once. maybe i got him on a bad day.

same thing with tim mccarver. i worked with him over a longer period of time on his tv show years ago. he'd always joke around with the guests and the higher-ups. but the lowly camera/audio guys? forget it. he was miserable. like we cared that he was time mccarver! we didnt even know he played. we just though he was an announcer! ha!

Regardless of what happens, it does make for an interesting football year.

Listening our local Packer affiliate, WTMJ Newsradio, it's interesting to hear all the chatter on the radio today. One of the reps from Ticketmaster says the Green Bay game against the Vikings, November 1st, is already starting to fetch $400.00 to $1000.00 per ticket.

Should be an exciting year.

Cheers!

He’s trying to protect his shoulder so he doesn’t wear out like last year.

It’s that simple.
