GREAT FALLS, Mont. — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever illegally shot and killed what officials say was one of Montana's largest grizzly bears.

The carcass of the big grizzly, called Maximus because he stood 7 1/2 feet tall and weighed about 800 pounds, was found Aug. 12 on a ranch in northern Montana.

The carcass...was found Aug. 12 on a ranch in northern Montana.

You might say that was a grizzly discovery.

"the big grizzly, called Maximus, stood 7 1/2 feet tall and weighed about 800 pounds, was found Aug. 12 on a ranch in northern Montana."

I'll bet the ranch owner is really, really, really mad that someone sneaked onto his property and killed the grizzly, too.

I never said it would be easy, just that it wasn't followed.

Also:whoever illegally shot and killed what officials say was one of Montana's largest grizzly bears

So..."Self Defense" is right out eh? I read the article and saw that this bear wasn't known for NOT avoiding humans, but what if the poor hunter ambled upon it? From what I understand grizzly bears have two states of being 1) about to become pissed off and 2) pissed off.
