I agree. Even if not true - reading the made up stories that turn of the century Americans told themselves for fun is worthwhile even if you don't buy the flying serpent angle.

I am one of those types that would not believe a UFO story but think it is worthwhile to examine because even if there are no UFOS or bigfoots it does tell us about the human condition if we make such stories up. Either way I am cool with it.

I think that there is too much evidence to reject UFOs out of hand. The lack of open official interest in the subject suggests that the US and other major governments know enough to have a sense of what UFOs are, a settled manner of dealing with them, and a belief that making what they know public would have unpredictable consequences.
