For networks, another re-run: Obama in prime time

If the networks don’t carry it, they ought to be ashamed of themselves,” said Democratic strategist Paul Begala. “It’s not like they’re going to be bumping ‘Masterpiece Theater.’ What are they going to run, bikini models eating worms in some kind of contest?”

Actually, such a reality show premise could score better ratings than Obama when he’s talking about health care. This will be the third time since June that Obama has pushed the administration’s health care reform plan to the American people during prime-time, and the ratings indicate that audience interest is dropping.

After the White House announced that President Obama will address a joint session of Congress in prime time next Wednesday, broadcast network executives couldn’t be blamed for thinking: “Again?”

Mark Whitaker, NBC's Washington bureau chief, told the Washington Post a couple weeks later that he’d feel better if the White House was “approaching [the networks] with the sense that they had something new to say, rather than that they just wanted to continue a dialogue with the American people.”

Barry has had 5-6 prime time addresses since he took office.

Bush, in the last term, had asked on 4 separate occasions (outside of normal State of the Union stuff) for primetime coverage, and 3 out of the 4 times the networks said “no”.

By now it should be clear to even the dense msm that Americans don’t want BO’s HellCare and no amount of TV face time is going to change their minds.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and thinking there will be a different result.

Well, gee, Mark Whitaker. Where on EARTH did Barack Obama get the idea that he could use the mainstream media as his personal infomercial provider?

I think every time he goes on TV he loses more support. Everyone is so weary of him. No one believes anything he says anymore.

NOTICE TO BEGALA AND OTHER ELITISTS:
Everybody does not appreciate opera, Shakespeare, Masterpiece theatre, sushi, manicures, fine wines. And as much as it may pain your royal and intellectual sensibilities, you STILL have NO RIGHT to say what others should like or do or watch or feel. You only THINK that your opinions and preferences are best because they are YOUR preferences and you and your kind are narcissists. If you were REALLY all as smart and as fair-minded as you like to think you are you would have the capacity to appreciate both car shows AND ballet. You are not big-minded just because you like to imagine that others are small. Shame on all of you. Try truly valuing EVERYBODY. Try to stop looking down on people because they like different things or live in trailer parks. When you say things like, “it isn’t Masterpiece theatre” you look like a total jackass.

Gee, I remember when they didn’t broadcast the Apollo 13 trip on the Networks, since according to the PR folks, all Americans considered the trip as “Routine”, and they pre-empted them w/regular programming until the news of the CSM explosion came out. Sounds like that’s what’s happening here, Americans are considering O’Bamba’s speaches abt Health Care as routine....

Hmm... explosion anyone?.......maybe that will get the ratings up. The MSM created this guy, so I say, it’s their own d#$m fault.....

People are tired of being inundated by 0bama 24/7. He should exercise his authority over the state media with a little restraint, but that’s not 0’s style. He prefers the in your face, street thug method of defeating America and advancing his cult.

The president just walked into the White House. He looked so down and angry, and I felt so good, I’m really looking forward to seeing his body language next Tuesday and Wednesday.
