I haven’t read the novelization of DAF. I’d have presumed they were in the book, since they were quite obvious in the film (although you never know, they do sometimes alter things dramatically from the book). Bruce Glover’s Mr. Wint was so fantastically over the top, and then the campy Charles Gray’s Blofeld in drag... unfortunately, you could see the silliness setting in for the ‘70s.

Yeah, I read that. I haven’t seen enough of his work, however, to figure how well he’d have done in the role. I don’t recall having seen UFO on tv (or rather, when they had it in reruns in the ‘70s, I was too young to remember it). I saw that other Gerry Anderson series, Space: 1999 with Martin Landau.

Some people don’t like DAF, saying it’s too boring and not enough character development. I am on to “From Russia with Love” and Bond is not even mentioned in the first 50 pages.

We get a lot info on Red Grant. Ian Fleming must have had something against people with red hair.

I love Barry’s use of the Moog synthesizer. This and Goldfinger are the two best scores/themes of the franchise (although I also like AVTAK from ‘85, too).
