We would immediately be back at frontier days style of life and who of the younger generations has a clue about it?
Riots and home break invasions, pillaging chaos would be supreme. There are a few survivalists that are prepared ... with food and water storage, seeds, solar panels for a bit of low power,vitamins, medicines, wood or coal for burning as heat source, true survival equipment necessary to make it for a time. What we would hope for is a prepared cave somewhere isolated.
The TV program “Jericho” a couple of years ago ... was an idea of what a small town would be like. Interesting show.
Some would say "why try to survive?" For what?
It was FICTION.
besides, we don't have to worry about stuff like that. Superman and Ironman, spiderman, The fantasic four, Captain america etc. will save us.

For the fun of it.
Because starving to death is so uncomfortable... almost as bad as watching your loved ones starve to death... People don't fight to survive for the "long run" - they fight to survive to stop the pain...
Many would not want to survive, it's true. But unfortunately, the reality is, when faced with a situation like that, a life or death one, most would choose to try to survive because they had no choice. It's inherent in our genes/dna. It's instinctual.
Those with guns & ammo would be in a better position to survive, but they would also be constantly forced to kill others in order TO survive. Not exactly a happy, smiley, warm and fuzzy scenario. But then, most of the unintended consequences of the decades of policies of warm and fuzzy liberals ends up that way.
