ACORN Vote: Not voting: McCain, Vitter, Grahamnesty, Hutchison, Coburn, Burr, and Gregg

Posted on 09/15/2009 10:03:57 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

Mccain's abstain "makes sense" to me, given that he's the de facto amnesty republican.

But what's Vitter's excuse? He also had an amendment to defund ACORN, did he not?

I say defeat them all in the primaries for their support of this criminal enterprise.

If I am not mistaken, according to Senate rules a no-vote by the person who introduced the Amendment allows him to bring it up again at a later date.

That would explain Vitter, but not the rest.

Mccain and Graham had a healthcare townhall in Charleston SC yesterday. Since neither voted, they were probably not back in time.

Defunding ACORN is a “with us or against us” issue.

Abstaining is WORSE than voting no. They are trying to have it both ways. I’m tired of the corruption, and tired of the corruption enablers.

The Republicans that couldn’t bring themselves to vote for this should be run out of the party on a rail.

I think you’re probably right. Nobody actually abstained, they just weren’t present.

They didn’t abstain or just vote present. They weren’t there to vote period. Big difference.

Vitter is from Louisiana ACORN Headquarters. He is facing a tough election hence his behavior.

Juan McCain and Graham-nesty were probably meeting with illegals and La Raza promising them Amnesty.

They later stopped off at a sailor bar because McCain was in the U.S. Navy and Graham-nesty likes sailors.

They both sicken me.

Kay Bailey Hutchison was down in Texas working on what she thinks will be her next gig - governor.

Gregg isn't running this year. I'm a little disappointed that I can't vote him out!

Shaheen of all people voted yea, gotta give her credit for that. Now if she only goes for an investigation into Acorn and it's affiliated organizations.

We'll see

Thanks.

Unless there is doubt about the outcome, not much can be read into a member not being there for the vote. This was a slam dunk so those who had more important things to do did.

Let’s see what he does under the rules. Not going after ACORN would only hurt him right now in Louisiana. Without an intact 9th ward gang he should win by going after ACORN even more than he would otherwise.

Burr (R-NC)
Byrd (D-WV)
Coburn (R-OK)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hutchison (R-TX)
McCain (R-AZ)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Vitter (R-LA)

Why didn’t those nine vote? Were they on vacation? Family Obligations? Ill? Chicken? What?
