"Failure to rebuke Joe Wilson is like backing racism" Really?
Mind Freed

Posted on 09/15/2009 12:35:22 PM PDT by Mind Freed

"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944

Within the democratic party sits a former high member of the actual KKK. That's not taking a shot at someone, that's fact. The Congressional BLACK Caucus is saying that not punishing Joe Wilson will have ramifications of the KKK, when they actually have a relic of KKK within the party. Byrd says that he now sees the wrong in his ways, but he still occasionally lets his feelings come out:

"There are white ni**ers. I've seen a lot of white ni**ers in my time, if you want to use that word."
March 4, 2001 interview with Tony Snow

I guess this just doesn't matter huh? I mean if the democrats want to talk about racism, shouldn't they start by looking inward?

They can try to hide behind this phoney racism B.S. all they want. The fact remains, whether the president is white, black, half-black, asian, American Indian, whatever, citizens have a right to complain, disagree and challenge our leader’s proposals. Period. That’s the beauty of our freedom. For them to scream racism is racist against those who dare speak out.

he called him a liar, he didn't call him a ni**er. So how does that make him a racist? and, for that matter, how does that make him wrong? Obama is a liar.

Sen. Sheets should know, he sees one every time he looks in the mirror.

Actually, I kind of like the fact that the left is making fools of themselves by accusing everyone who disagrees with Zero as being “racist”. It proves they have nothing left. They have no valid arguments. They are intellectually bankrupt.

Jimmy Carter ran on a segregationist platform when he first rand for governor in Georgia.

But, this is all besides the point. There was nothing racist in Joe Wilson’s outburst, and nothing incorrect about it. If the NeoComs are saying that a white man can’t criticize the policies of a black man without being racist, the NeoComs are racist. That kind of thinking is racist. Does the party feel like it has protect their black president that way? I would think Obama should be man enough to stand up against his political enemies without having to resort to that nonsense. The left doesn’t need its paternal, protective attitude towards this black president. Obama should be embarrassed. If he isn’t, it is only because he enjoys the race baiting.

Being a good man has nothing to do with the color of a man’s skin nor does being an incompetent white hating traitor, that has quickly become a miserable failure.

I would be disgusted with and hold in contempt, Obama, regardless of his color.

Really...

Only in the Clown Universe, is this true; that the color of one’s skin is more important than character!

Somewhere Dr. King is disgusted with what they have done to his legacy.

Joe Wilson apologized to the president, now it's time for him to apologize to the American people. This was not a daily session of congress where there is much interaction and heated debate -- where tempers are bound to flare. This was a different situation. A joint session of Congress is a very special meeting of both houses of that body and reserved for the most important issues concerning the welfare of the American people, a meeting that deserves the highest level of reverence and respect for this nation.

Joe Wilson owes, not only the president, but the American people an apology.

You wrote: Joe Wilson owes, not only the president, but the American people an apology

I say: BullSh!t. In case you forget, the entire 8 years of the Bush presidency was nothing more than an opportunity for the opposition to denigrate, malign, misrepresent, and destroy the character of the president. President Bush was not compared to but equated with Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, and Mao. He was accused of bringing down the twin towers and allowing the attacks of 9-11 to occur. He was called fool, frat boy, stupid, drunk, racist, and hypocrite - all on the floor of the house during debates and speeches that are part of the permanent record. His faith was mocked, his devotion to his wife was ridiculed, and his manner of speech was used to question his intellegence.

And you want Joe Wilson to apologize for calling this president for what he is? Really?

Why is it constitutional to have a "skin color caucus?"

Newt chased them out of their meeting room and did not allow them to meet in the congressional buildings.

One of Princess Nancy’s first acts was to restore the privilege.

Democrats are racist. The Speaker is racist

I confess — I’m just totally confused by all those things George Bush did or was accused of doing.

I checked the thread and saw, with the exception of ones threatening the life of the president, to be examples of free speech, protected by the First Amendment.

You can't compare these kind of activities in an open forum to those taking place before a joint session of congress and the outburst displayed by Joe Wilson.

I wonder, when Wilson was in the military, would he have spoken like that to a commanding general.
