AMD Athlon II X4 620 & 630: The First $99 Quad Core CPU
****************************EXCERPT******************************
How does AMD respond to Lynnfield? Is it by drastically cutting prices on Phenom II? Nope. By introducing the worlds first quad-core processor to debut at $99. Now thats cool.
Its called the Athlon II X4 and its existence shouldnt be any surprise. AMD quietly announced it along with the Athlon II X2 line.
YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY BABY!
You don’t need anything more than an 8080. Unless you’re a racist.
Right! You don’t need more than that unless you’re trying to do something extravagant like using a color monitor or something. Kids these days.

Very nice! I am glad that although AMD has been battered as of late by Intel, they are still throwing punches. Good for the consumer. I have switched from being an AMD guy, to an Intel guy, but now I am just a “best bang for the buck” type.
Sorry for the delay on this one. I didn't see it come through.
After the way Intel has played the game, (read: dirty) I am a purely AMD guy for life.
I’ll be in the market this fall for an AMD Quad Core. I’m currently looking at the one that runs at 65w (I don’t game), but will consider this CPU as well.
I must be a racist as I required a 486/66 powered IBM PS/2 70 to program Eprom chips ,, stupid thing died after only 17 years .. I want a refund. ,, The parallel port on those old machines sync’d up perfecty for that work...
I’m almost embarrassed to say that my laptop is even a bigger gross waster of cpu cycles ,, it’s a Thinkpad 600 P2/300 w/256mb ... I guess it’s off to the gulag for me...
but maybe I can save myself by turning in a WORSE waster of cpu cycles ... the shared pc (sadly I am using it right now) has an AMD64live processor running at something called MANY GIGAHERTZ ... take the kids ,, take my wife but leave me alone... they made me buy it ... they didn’t like NT3.51 anymore...
I love this :D... good sense of humor stepping out of the politics threads ;)
My first AMD was K8.. I just installed the Phenom II 940 about 1 month ago. Very nice (still don’t use ATI though)...
