The Blue Pill

Did you see the movie: “The Matrix”? It’s a science fiction movie that came out in 1999. It’s entertaining and thought provoking and I recommend it. In one of my favorite scenes, the protagonist, Neo, is offered a choice in the form of two pills. The red pill will enable him to forget what he has learned and return to the comfort and security of his blissful ignorance. The blue pill simply offers the truth.

It’s a well-done scene and makes you think long and hard about which pill you would choose. On the one hand, Neo has a good life going and even though it may not be real, it is the only reality he knows and would ever know. It is secure and fulfilling and peaceful. On the other hand, there is the truth, and the responsibility and consequences that would result from it.

Sometimes I feel like we’re in own version of the Matrix. The truth is available and is often times right at our fingertips, but many of us choose to ignore it or reject it . We prefer the security of blissful ignorance. We let conventional wisdom think for us, accept state-run media coverage as fact, allow well-funded, corrupt institutions and organizations to mislead us and vote for politicians that lie to us.

Once upon a time, Americans knew and accepted the truth. We saw through the corruption, lies and insidious plots of our enemies both foreign and domestic. We witnessed first hand the evils of collectivism and the empty promises of socialism. We fought against these evils with our hearts, minds and lives. We sacrificed because it was important, and we knew that the freedom that our Constitution guarantees is rare and worth preserving.

But now...now we hide behind our busy schedules. We are apathetic and comfortable. We trust the untrustworthy. We worship at the alter of political correctness. We choose popularity over faith. We mock morality and Christian values. How uncool. How unhip. We vote for a President because he makes us feel good without any consideration of his experience, associations or ideals. We surrender our freedoms because we to refuse to think critically about the issues that determine our future. We know nothing and are proud of it.

How can America survive with such an electorate? We can't.

It is time for us to grow up and take the blue pill. We need to see that America's radical enemies are well-organized, well-funded and have infiltrated our schools, our communities, our churches and our governments. They have taken over the Democrat party and control the White House, House and Senate. They have made more progress over the past 200 days than they have over the past 30 years. America stands now on the brink of Socialism. There are devastating bills before Congress right now that would hand the federal government control of your behavior, your health-care, your work, your free speech and your children.

So today, I am offering you a choice: the blue pill or the red. The red will give you a life of simplicity and comfort while you surrender your freedom to the socialists, marxists and atheists in our government. The red pill is the dis-information you get from NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, the L.A. Times, MSNBC, PBS, Time, Newsweek, Hollywood, the White House, Robert Gibbs, Politicians, lobbyists, ACORN, Unions, the Czars, Ben Bernanke, GE, Tim Giethner, Hank Paulson, Paul Krugman, and everyone that attended Ted Kennedy's funeral (especially those priests). The red pill is an easy choice. All you have to do is just keep doing what you have been: listen to the sound-bites, platitudes and lies from these sources and then don't give it a second thought.

The blue pill is the truth. It comes from these sources: www.therightangler.com, www.americanthinker.com, www.newsmax.com, www.freerepublic.com, www.michellemalkin.com, www.townhall.com, www.weeklystandard.com, www.nationalreview.com, www.jewishworldreview.com, www.heritage.org and920 AM WHJJ on the radio from 10:00AM-7:00PM. These are all quality independent sources with solid research and real thinkers. It's not enough just to read or listen though, you have to think critically about it, challenge it, debate it and then act on it. Once you take the blue pill, there is no turning back. Your eyes will be open and you will share the responsibility that we all have to preserve the Constitution that protects our freedoms.

I took the blue pill a long time ago. I have watched our enemies make the slow march through our institutions and corrupt the values and ideals that we held sacred for so long. I watched them lie and win elections. I have watched them for years, but I've never been this scared for our future. Take the blue pill and join me. Our Constitution and the freedom it guarantees hangs in the balance.

I might leave NewsMax off that list. Their reporting is dubious.

Did you see the movie: “The Matrix”?

Unfortunately, yes.

One of the worst, most immature, biggest POS movies I ever had the misfortune of seeing.

The blue pill was the return to the Matrix; the red one was the exit to the "real world".

I'm just sayin'.

Good job but you have it backwards. It is the Red pill that allows you to see the real world. In my prison ministry band I used to dress the part and give the speech to the inmates. It ended with Christianity being the RED pill and went on from there. It got their attention from the git-go because I began it with “let me tell you why you’re here.” I would leave out the Neo parts.

Here is the whole speech from the movie.

Morpheus: Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know, you can’t explain. But you feel it. You felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. Like a splinter in your mind — driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I’m talking about?
Neo: The Matrix?
Morpheus: Do you want to know what it is?
(Neo nods his head.)
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere, it is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, or when go to church or when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind. (long pause, sighs) Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
(In his left hand, Morpheus shows a blue pill.)
Morpheus: You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. (a red pill is shown in his other hand) You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. (Long pause; Neo begins to reach for the red pill) Remember — all I am offering is the truth, nothing more.
(Neo takes the red pill and swallows it with a glass of water)

Unfortunately, the column writer got his pill colors mixed up. To quote Morpheus from the movie, “This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes”

In other words, with the blue pill you stay in the fantasy of the Matrix and the red pill shows you reality.

I got one relevant message from The Matrix

"We need guns. Lots of guns!"

Um, it was the red pill that released Neo from his bonds.

Which is why Cipher says to Neo later on in the movie, "You know, I know what you're thinking, because right now I'm thinking the same thing. Actually, I've been thinking it ever since I got here. Why, oh why didn't I take the blue pill?!"

True and it coincidentally matches up exactly right with red state reality oriented and blue state coma induced mentality.

Excellent premise/analogy.

Only taking the red pill does not insure comfort for long. Any time after a short time ... now they will have seized power completely. Then we will all find ourselves serfs or worse. Remember Russia in “Dr. Zhivago”

Immediately after the Reds seized power, people had many people forced into living in them ... due to the size/bigness of the houses. The owners were relegated to a couple of rooms, there were shortages, and the invaders began to burn the furniture for fuel. There was no private property. They were wretched, poor, starving, desperate people ... still glad they had won, and had done away with the Monarchy. It is possible ... I pray God to help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.
