No, it's really not..but the addiction itself is not what I was talking about. I'm talking about celebrities who make mistakes and get blackmailed. And Rush WAS being blackmailed by his maid:

If you are holding their position over their head to get sex and they can prove it you can be criminally charged. It’s called extortion.

You’re comparing the immorality of Letterman to Rush’s legitimate medical need for pain pills? Sorry, but that sounds suspiciously leftie-like in its’ “stretch”.

Immorality is immorality....it has nothing to DO with pain pill addiction, much less a valid medical need for those pain pills. Even the hypocritical lefties believe that drug addicts are victims of a disease.... except when it’s Rush Limbaugh.

This is just more of the same leftist mentality that ‘anything goes’, rape, sexual harassment, pedaphilia.... as long as it involves one of their own fellow lefties.

Rush wanted to get ahead of the story to tell his listeners his side before the D.A. had a chance to slam him in the press.

As to the difference between the two situations; One does not intentionally become addicted to drugs. It's just something that happens to some people in an effort to alleviate pain.

Letterman did intentionally pursue his employees with the full knowledge that it was wrong.

I have NO idea what you’re talking about. Rush was buying drugs illegally from his maid.

I’ve see pictures of Letterman’s wife.

He sure does seem to like them plain rather than fancy!

I know, but when a person is in pain, I don’t blame them for trying to do whatever (within reason) to relieve it.

In addition, Rush did not take advantage of a co-worker which, in my opinion, is worse.

DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT. :-)

WRONG..but not illegal. What Rush was doing was illegal. We can have another discussion whether or not it should be, but it is. Believe me, I know about drug addiction and the lengths people will go to feed their addictions. My original post really wasn’t about the actions of these two that got them into the hot water they found themselves in. I was trying to talk about the phenomenon of celebrities being blackmailed.

"NO, It’s not. I LOVE RUSH...

Bravo Sierra!. If you feel the need to lead with and reinforce your bona fides and then quickly defend them it is apparent that you are not very secure with them.

Oxycontin and oxcycondone are brand names for the same drug.

Uh...no. Oxycodone is the generic name for one type of opioid analgesic. Oxycontin is the brand name Perdue Pharma uses (combined with inert binders.)

I speak from experience...I work in pharmaceutical manufacturing, and we make both.

"Sleeping with one's subordinates isn't a crime, period. unethical, sure, but not criminal."

Then why do we corporate slaves have to go through endless seminars about sexual harassment, to the point that we're afraid to even flirt with each other, for fear of "reprisals". The left has damned sure made it FEEL like it's a crime in the workplace to enjoy the company of a co-worker or a boss a little 'too much'.

OK..I’m not talking about the addiction or the sleeping with subordinates, I was speaking about the BLACKMAIL. I know all about chronic pain and painkillers....believe me.

Thank you for understanding what I was trying to point out. I sensed a it of unease in his voice as well and I doubt he will speak much of it again.

if anything it’s Rush’s three divorces that make him a hypocrite in my eyes.

Actually, it IS against the law. It is against the EEOC law!

Letterman and CBS can be sued under the EEOC because he, as their boss, has an authority that forces employees to be subservient or risk loosing their jobs.

So, you and Hildy are wrong, it is AGAINST the law.

Why would three, much less two, divorces make Rush a hypocrite? Clue me in.

Yes, what Rush did was "Illegal, Illegal" and he faced the "Music, Music" for it. He blamed no one but "Himsef, Himself" for it.

I wonder if the Hollywod elite are going to come down on Letterman for having "Sex, Sex" with his subordinates.
