Cabbage Hammock is a high place in the swamp with palm trees.

Hammock comes from Spanish, "hamaca" for high ground, and the early English speaking settlers called the Sabal Palms "cabbage palms" because of the edible growth shoot.

This area has over 400 years of history now, but many of the old names and traditions are fading. The developers come in and make up goofy names to replace the old ones. A few of us still refuse to play the game, better not ask us for directions, LOL
