I am making a batch right now. Just put it in a bowl for the first 1/2 rise. Just asked Diana in Wisconsin how she makes the starter for the Amish Frienship Bread. Since it is raining my outside chores are delayed and football is on!

Like I said the other day... I have this recurring nightmare that when I die I am sent to Hell and find snow and ice there!!!

We just cubed the tomatoes by hand and threw them in the pot this time for the salsa. I cheated, I didn’t skin them. At first I tried the food mill, but that was a pain. It would keep clogging up. Mine was thinner this time because I just didn’t cook it down as much as usual. I was impatient. LOL.

I’ve never had a potato donut! If you get an extra few minutes to post a recipe one day, I’d sure like to try them though.

First of all, treat yourself to good yeast. I’m none too fond of the Red Star packaged stuff in the grocery. I buy a French brand from King Arthur Flour. A bag lasts me all year...and I do a LOT of baking...and only runs about $5. (I keep it in the fridge.)

(The ‘starter’ recipe is near the bottom of the page.)
Have fun! Don’t send me any, LOL!

We love our jerky! Last month hubby brought a mule deer home from Colorado and I used 20 lbs. of it to make jerky sticks (look like a Slim Jim, but drier and tougher like jerky). I think I came out with 6 lbs. of sticks and there are only a few left. I have to hide them from everyone ... even the 10 month old granddaughter uses it as a teether and absolutely loves it, spice and all.

I must have missed that, but I will check it out immediately! Thanks.
Did you get that line of storms from the west yesterday?

Yes those storms rolled through here yesterday afternoon about 4:30. Light rain and misty most of today - cool temps.

I make home made bread all the time but I am not a baker. I make the donuts about twice a year. I don’t think we have bought more than two or three loaves of bread in the last two years.

Those of us that can grow food and preserve it, sew or knit or crochet, can sew on a button, bake bread, make our own wine or beer and tend small livestock will one day RULE this country full of the incompetent and clueless. ;)
However, if nominated I will not run. If elected I will not serve, LOL!
