Recreational fishing generates a $125 billion annual economy in the United States and supports jobs in every state according to government figures.

Brilliant. Thanks for the info, bhfred. I'll be sure to pass this along to a few interested parties.

FYI ping, 4wb.

Thanks, I read some of it yesterday. I'm pretty sure the citizens of United States are not going to give up control of our navigable waters to a foreign country.

I don't have anything to cite off the top of my head, but I believe the Coast Guard and Homeland Security have to defend those waters, and can even enlist captains with CG endorsed Masters licenses to help.

All an attempt to surrender our waterways would accomplish would be an expedited impeachment, followed by charges of treason, sabotage, etc.

And while they're sorting things out, we can get our target practice in while waiting for the bite.

“Reminds me of the 1800s in England where millions of subjects were thrown off their land and the lands were possesed by the local royalty. No one could hunt or fish the lands and the locals subjects starved and became a source of cheap labor.”

Could the cause of such ridiculous economic actions against red state areas be to ruin the those economies and drive the people into blue zone cities for work and to up the Congressional district gerrymandering? Also to get self sufficient people hooked on Gub’mnt freebies?

Historically slavery and servanthood were refuges for many people who did not have resources.

I haven’t heard this anywhere else, and it sounds like yet another important thing to keep track of.

FWIW a little more current history.

“On May 15, 2007, United States President George W. Bush announced that he had urged the Senate to approve the UNCLOS.”

So this isn’t just an “Obama” issue.

“On October 31, 2007, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 17-4 to send the treaty to the full U.S. Senate for a vote.”

And it doesn’t seem to be a Dem/Rep issue either since the vote wasn’t strictly along party lines.

“In the United States there has been vigorous debate over the ratification of the treaty, with criticism coming mainly from political conservatives who consider involvement in some international organizations and treaties as detrimental to U.S. national interests.”

I understand this and why they would feel this way; I don’t disagree on some of their issues.

“A group of Republican senators, led by Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, has blocked American ratification of the Convention, claiming that it would impinge on U.S. sovereignty. The Bush administration, a majority of the United States Senate, and the Pentagon favored ratification.”

So, we let an Oklahoma Senator determine our national coastal policies? And what exactly is driving this Senators interest in this treaty? The good of his constituents? Or is he doing the bidding of his corporate sponsors?

“kind of reminds me of Clinton, except Zer0 is more malicious.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Are you kidding? I used to wake up cussing Bill Clinton and go to bed the same way but Hopey makes the Clinton years look like the good old days. Clinton was a disaster but he was a disaster like having your house burn down with no injuries. Obama is like having the church burn down with your family and friends inside. Amazingly there are still idiots who think we upgraded when we replaced a president who loved America but was imperfect with a perfect ass who HATES America. The best years of my life are gone but it looks as though the children of today will, if they can survive somehow, live in a turd world communist or fascist hellhole that few could imagine until recently. Most of the freedoms that we took for granted sixty years ago are gone and the situation worsens day by day. We need to split this country and give the idiots their own country to ruin as they see fit, maybe the rest of us who haven’t gone insane could still have a reason to live.

3 1/2 more years of this- can we endure?
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

No we cannot, Obama and his band of idiots will turn this country into Zimbabwe or worse by then. It is easy to deal with someone who is stupid if they realize their own limitations and act accordingly but what we have now is a gang of morons in Washington who all think they are geniuses, nothing on Earth is more infuriating except possibly trying to deal with the morons who elected the morons.

How on Earth can people who love to fish and or hunt be blind enough to support a Marxist? It is mind blowing.

"You can't undo a UN treaty,"

Sure you can. You just need the right legal representation.

I recommend the law firm of Mossberg, Remington, Springfield amd Colt.

(If you require international representation, I hear the firm of Kalashnikov and Makarov is quite reliable.)

Make sure your case is filed in the court of Judge Taurus.

You have that right- I don't want it to come to that, but it may be necessary.
