Assemblies of God
THAT surprises me. I thought they were more American than that.
Herein no pro-amnesty candidate will ever get my vote; doesn’t matter who they are.
True. Stuff like this is why I’ve grown to dislike organized religion- its become about stuffing the church coffers, not spreading the teachings of Christ. Oh, I might add that views like this from the NAE is how Christian Socialists like Huckabee evolve.
Amen
Has been that way for a very long time, all about butts in seats and making money to build things, self aggrandisement and no about saving souls.
EVANGELICALS: Your Leaders Endorsed Mass Amnesty Today
By Roy Beck, Updated Thursday, October 8, 2009, 6:41 PM EDT
Leaders of most of the nation’s evangelical Christians made a shocking endorsement of illegal-alien amnesty today in Senate testimony.
Their spokesman — the head of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) — said high immigration is increasing membership in evangelical churches and is good for the economy.
Polls have shown that evangelical Christians in the pews are the MOST likely to OPPOSE amnesty. If you are one of them, you may want to contact your church leaders immediately.
The NAE phone number is: 202-789-1011 -— Fax number is 202-842-0392
The NAE email address is: executivedirector@nae.net and govaffairs@nae.net
Please be respectful and thoughtful in your comments to the NAE. I would suggest that only evangelical Christians make the contacts.
THEY ARE NOW!!
Surprises me too...I have a daughter who is AOG.
They are worried about their coffers!!
Pro-amnesty isn’t necessarily the same as pro-socialist, thought there are a lot of the same people in both camps. I think the motivation for pro-amnesty on the part of many Catholics is exactly the same as the motivation of many Evangelicals like Huckabee: they see the invasion from south of the border as people more likely to fill their pews and collection plates than native born Americans turned off by their shtick. They simply don’t think through the consequences of the short-term benefits. Sort of like the Chamber of Commerce, whom I also consider dead wrong on this issue but not necessarily socialist.
The Catholics and the Happy Clappys both want more “nalgas” in the pews, hence the support for amnesty.
Show me leading Catholic priests and bishops who are anti-amnesty and don’t support the invasion from our South. (crickets).
NAE conducted a poll on the attitudes of Evangelicals in the 18-29 age bracket. Young evangelicals viewed Rick Warren and Bono as ideal Christian role models. They felt that the pursuit of social justice is more important the culture wars. On FR, posters complain that Huckabee is a Christian Socialist. The truth is - Huckabee is keeping up with the trends in the Evangelical subculture.
Any Christian that relies on trends (particularly socialist ones) to interpret and spread the word of Christ is sorrily misled. And that includes Huckabee.
If Shumer invited this guy, you can bet that this is a leftist, evangelical look-alike construct from the left to make it look like the left has the support of evangelical christians in this immigration/amnesty monstrocity.
As a whole, they do not...and they know it. It is more slight of hand, smoke screen, bravo sierra from the left being eaten up by the MSM.
Mega churches are known to hire marketing research consultants to focus group test sermons to see how popular it would be. Rick Warren is a prime example.
Mega churches are operate like businesses than Houses of Worship.

See my post 36.
Average church membership in the US is 180. All the member denominations seem to be quite small. Just another Evagelical claiming to speak for all Evangelicals.
Which is hard to do ‘cause we don’t join organizations like this.
