Maybe the ACLU will step in on behalf of the girl’s right to free speech.
Don't touch the brown soap, we hear some people have been having some bad trips on it. - Wavy Gravy
Re: “Wow...my mother would have been spending a bit of time in jail if this had been instituted when I was a kid...;-) “

Mine too — funny thing was, it was non-violent, didn’t hurt and was more humiliating than anything other than that the soap didn’t taste great.
This nanny state garbage has got to be stopped!

I have no problem with a natural born parent or legitimate long term supporting step-parent conducting this punishment.
I do, however, object to Moms boyfriend doing anything to the discipline the children. With or without Moms approval.
Its well documented what the boyfriend is capable of.
My parents used a teaspoon of cinnamon, doesn’t sound all that bad until you try it gah!
Gee, it sure beats a spanking with a hairbrush.
My mom used Ivory soap—it was very mild, just like her.
I learned long ago to use straight up vinegar. I made the little mutants (my sweet baby kids) swish it around real good and hold it in their mouths. Whats a mom to be charged with, improper use of a salad dressing?
We make the national news for the dumbest things!

It is from Jean Shepherd's screenplay for "A Christmas Story", one of my favorite movies.
Mr. Shepherd was a wonderful author.
Well, thanks for sharing it.
It only happened to me a few times, but if I close my eyes I can still remember the taste.
I also remember Mom sending me out to cut my own switch when it was time to get my butt beaten.
LOL! Did we have the same Mom? I learned real quick that it doesn’t pay to bring back the smallest switch you can find. Yeow!
