The Jim Zorn watch began immediately after the Redskins' loss to the Chiefs. But it appears he has done enough to save his job, for now.

Sources told FOXSports.com that following Sunday's game that Zorn met with Redskins vice president Vinny Cerrato, who basically told him that the head coach had too much on his plate and that he wanted him to succeed as head coach. They agreed that Zorn would relinquich playcalling duties. The two will meet again Monday morning to discuss who that role who be transferred to.

The move comes amidst heavy criticism following the beleaguered Zorn all season long, which had grown each week as the Redskins lost four of their first six games against the NFL's weakest schedule. Zorn's offense has not scored more than 17 points in any game this season. In Sunday's loss, Washington earned only seven first downs and failed to score a touchdown.

Look at the teams they’ve played for the last five games: St Louis, Detroit, Carolina, Tampa Bay and Kansas City.

The five teams have a total of 4 wins between them. I dare say there has never been an easier five-game stretch for any team in NFL history.

And if you take wins over the Skins out of it, the five teams have one win between them, today’s Carolina win over winless Tampa Bay.

Looks like Sherman Lewis gave up calling bingo just in time to start calling the offense.

Dead coach walking. Zorn’s a good guy—the type of guy you want to see succeed—but he’s pretty clearly in way over his head.

The real problem with the Redskins is less about coaches and more about the meddling fingers of their dysfunctional Richie Rich owner.

And the 2 wins they did get were by the "skins" of their teeth (2 points and 3 points) at home (over the Lams and Succaneers).

I like Jim Zorn, but I never got why he was named head coach in the first place. They hired him to the OC before they had found a coach, then after awhile decided to make him the HC. It was messed up to begin with.

If only Dallas could get more bye weeks, they’ll make the playoffs.

We'll what if we were to march on Washington and let them know how fed up we are? Oh, wait a minute, we tried that and they acted like it didn't happen...or at least not in such large numbers...

Playcalling? Is that what that’s called?

Because no big name coach of the kind that Snyder is so desperate for will lower himself to the level of being a Snyder/Cerrato butt-boy. Therefore, unaccomplished nobodies like Zorn are the only guys left available and willing to coach the team now.

None of the Redskins opponents this year had a single victory when when the Skins played them Doesn't get much easier than that.

You’re right, they played the Giants the first game of the year, so they were indeed “winless”.
