Biden announces federal solar program similar to Berkeley plan

A federal plan to bring renewable energy retrofits within the reach of middle-class homes, announced Monday by President Joe Biden, gave a jolt to local pilot programs with the same goal.

The Recovery Through Retrofit report that Biden unveiled is in part a plan to let homeowners dodge hefty financial barriers to retrofits such as installing solar paneling on their roofs, U.S. Department of Energy spokeswoman Jen Stutsman said.

The program shares that aim with Berkeley FIRST, a pilot program launched a year ago that allows property owners, over a 20-year period, to finance the large upfront expense of installing solar power.

"We've known for decades there could be a lot of money saved if people make these changes to their home," said Cisco DeVries, Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates' former chief of staff and an early proponent of the Berkeley FIRST program. "Sealing your air ducts, putting in new windows, getting solar paneling. The problem is, people haven't been doing it.

"Now we have this confluence of events where we have a real priority of climate change at same time as people looking to save some money every month, and people looking to create jobs. Here we have the win-win." The Berkeley FIRST program works by allowing property owners to borrow the money to pay for installing solar power from private bonds, paying the money back as an assessment in their annual property taxes over 20 years at a fixed 7.75

Why bother? The government will just steal the money to pay for Death Care anyway. They're going to have to scarf up trillions, and they're going to have to get it from somewhere. They're definitely not going to collect it from the democrat base. That leaves the other half of the country to foot the bill.
The last thing people should do is put money in the bank or market if this thing passes, because Death Care will give all our financial information to the Feds. Savings will have to be confiscated "for the greater good." The democrats will never admit they screwed up. They'll rape and plunder the tax slaves instead.

When a democrat talks about saving money, they're talking about more money they can take from us. The democrat base needs to feed, and their appetite is insatiable.
