They don't GO anywhere. There are coyotes living in the heart of Houston, the 4th largest city in the US. If they have any kind of cover like a creek, bayou or park they can live in very close proximity to humans. They prey on rats, cats and small dogs as well as garbage cans. I saw one in the middle of the day in the middle of Tanglewood, an inner city neighborhood. I had heard they were here and now I have seen one with my own eyes.

We have them during the day all the time in June/July also. Plus at night. They are like clockwork. In the winter they travel across the field in the snow. Guess it is not a good idea to be near them where you are in the heart of Houston. Wow. I will have to ask my cousin who lives in Houston too. Stay safe.

10 years ago, they were rarely heard of here in rural NC. 1 or 2 a season were seen or shot by deer hunters, but now, they are everywhere! They are about to completely eliminate the rabbit population, and you never hear or see a quail anymore. They will eat anything they find, and are now preying on the deer herd, especially the fawns! Now we cant get rid of them fast enough, so a feel good story about a coyote doesn't work for us that knows them!!
