Andre Agassi used crystal meth while he was playing professional tennis, according to a new autobiography to be released next month.
The Times of London plans to serialize the book and released details on Tuesday which describe how Agassi came to use the drug and how he avoided discipline by the ATP.
In 1997, Agassi was struggling with his game and with his decision to marry actress Brooke Shields. His assistant, identified as Slim, introduced him to the drug, according to the excerpt.

For once, I am actually shocked. If he said pot, that would be one thing, but I would not have guessed meth. I followed Agassi way back when and even though he played the rebel, he always seemed to be an athlete first.
That explains his hair loss.

Thank you!
I’m glad he got over it, but I’m sure he would have rivaled Pete or Roger in grand slam wins if he had more direction when younger.
He seems to be very together now and seems a good guy.
He does great charity work and he and his wife are quite the RE developers the last few years.
Yeah it kinda shocked me but what is shocking more is to admit to it now. I understand it has a kind of freeing effect. I guess it takes alot of balls.
Really makes me think about what kind of power the big name sports stars have with getting positive results thrown out. I dont think I like that part of this story one bit.
Amphetamine Andre
But Andre kept on speedin’, his hair was gettin’ poor
He saw things in the racket, he heard things at the door
His mouth was like a grindin’ mill, his serves were cracked and sore
His skin was turnin’ yellow, he just couldn’t take it no more
He thought his mind was flyin’ on that chrystal meth
He didn’t know it was going down fast, cause - speed kills!
I believe John McEnroe had a big problem for a time as well.
I agree with you that I can't think of a good reason for Agassi to let this get out. Sure isn't going to help him grow respect from people IMO.
