The original proposition was:

"Whatever is not of God is of the devil."

Assuming that the proposition is made in a dualistic frame of reference, with "God" being the good guy, and "the devil" being the bad guy, this would be, logically a tautology, and not arguable.

You have, however seen fit to label it as "...specious and pointless ... absurd and brainless ..."

Apart from the invective, your argument assumes facts not stated or implied in the original proposition. For example, nowhere in the original proposition was it stated that only that which is mentioned in the Old Testament is of God. You, however have created a strawman out of the US and its Constitution.

Apart from the historical evidence that the authors of this document were, at the very least Deists (Jefferson) and in most other cases committed Christians, the attendant documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and The Federalist Papers, make it abundantly clear that the Founders were establishing a State that they thought would be, as closely as possible, "of God."

Asserting that this could not be the case because it was not foretold by a document which predates the Union by over 2,000 years is a logical post hoc ergo propter hoc.

The OT is replete with mention of pagan religions (Baal, Egyptian Magic, The Golden Calf) and it makes it abundantly clear that these are of the devil. Judaism is the only religion given to man directly by God, and Christianity is the natural fulfillment of its prophecies, just as Wicca and Satanism are natural variants of the religions of man.

Pointing out the dangers inherent in a behavior, Protagoras, is not the same as prohibiting that behavior, a fact not fully appreciated by our society today, as it tries to legislate everything from food content to vaccines.
