NFL Hall of Famer busted for leaving scene of car accident

NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was busted last night in Miami after he left the scene of an accident, according to police.

The 50-year-old former NY Giant great was charged with "leaving the scene of accident/property damage" by the Florida Highway Patrol just before 10 p.m.

According to the FHP, officers responded to a report of a hit and run on the Palmetto Expressway at 103rd St. just after 6:30 p.m. The officers searched the next exit and found Taylor driving a white car that matched the description of the car involved.

Officers spoke to Taylor, who said he was involved in an accident but thought he'd hit a guard rail, not a car. The officers didn't suspect Taylor was drunk so he was not given a field sobriety test.

It wasn't the first arrest for the former linebacker and "Dancing with the Stars" contestant. Suspended from the NFL in the '80s for failing two drug tests, L.T. was arrested twice for trying to buy cocaine from undercover cops after his retirement in 1994.

Leaving an accident beats a DUI hit. Methinks that’s what LT’s lawyers have told him in the past. Just do a Teddy Kennedy and report it in the morning when you are all sobered up and lawyered up.

There’s only one real LT, and that’s Mr. Tomlinson.

ha! ask anyone, "who would you rather have in their prime? LT or ladanian?"

LT would be the answer of anyone with a clue.

This qualifies Lawrence Taylor to be a CNN News Anchor (ala Rick Sanchez).

Now perhaps. But in his day Lawrence Taylor changed the game. As an Eagles-fan I can tell you that my team spent many years trying to game-plan a way to neutralize Mr. Taylor twice per year — without success.

Uh,

Did you miss out on the 2006 season? LT broke the all-time scoring record.

Lawrence Taylor, fantastic player, don’t get me wrong, but you’d not see LT on the extracurricular activities. That’s why I say he doesn’t deserve the name anymore.

so doing drugs makes you unworthy of a nickname you've had for decades? i don't get it.

lawrence taylor is the greatest pass rushing line backer ever. no question. he was the best player on some great teams. oh, and he has 2 rings.

tomlinson is great, no question. but is he even in the top 5 all-time running backs? and he gets hurt. a lot. and his sour-puss on the sideline act gets old.

Who would you have over him?

I can see the case for:

Emmitt
Peyton
Sanders
Brown

and then who?

Dickerson?

He needs another 250 or so yards to be 8th all time. As for ‘injury-prone’, this year was the first time he’s missed a game due to injury.

I can see LT right now being the number 5 back all time, if he were to hang up his cleats. But, despite the NYG rush D, he’s not done yet. Watch out if the Bolts get their run D sorted.

I actually saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Giants/LT in the late 1980's ... Tampa Bay neutralized LT with hookers and crack sent to his hotel room ... burned out and with no sleep he was worthless against the worst line in football.

Agree with you. LT in his prime wrecked any opposing offensive game plan, a one man wrecking crew, everywhere at once.

Tomlinson is good, but he doesn’t dominate every game the way LT did.
