I would think library operations vary widely around the country. I’m no expert, but I would think people do or could donate many books to the system. Perhaps they could also find a way of renting or lending electronic books since this is the next great change coming along. Libraries have always been free, but perhaps some fee could be assessed that would be reasonable for an enhanced level of service in the future.

Around here the public libraries seem to exist because they give away what Blockbuster wants to charge for and, Oh Yeah, they have taxing authority.
