The first man to eat a raw oyster must have been very, very hungry.

Hey, FDA: leave my damn oysters alone! But perhaps I’m just being shellfish...

Wow. government actually backed down to consumer pressure??

(pinching myself) Now they will seek a back door approach to impose regulations. could even be buried in the health control bill.

YES!

One small step.

C’mon: millions of pounds a year because MAYBE 15 people croak?

More than that are allergic and die from anaphylactic shock.

“How can you put a price on a hooman life” logic just doesn’t work...its a nonsense argument because it is only selectively applied: 40000 a year die in car accidents but we still drive. And thats a choice.....

I’m so glad I have never cared for oysters.

Week before last, I happened to be in a restaurant in Louisiana where I ordered what I thought to be my last dozen unspoiled oysters. At the time is was a bittersweet occasion.

Now I am reassured that is a God and he intended oysters to be eaten au naturale'.

Lyrics from (the unfortunately very liberal) Jimmy Buffett:

“Give me oysters and beer,
Every day of the year,
And I’ll be fine,
I’ll be fine.”

Admittedly, it is an acquired taste, but I truly love them on crackers with coctail sauce heavy on hot sauce and horseradish (strong enough to sting your nose when you eat one) and a little lemon juice, and chased with a beer. Awesome!

Ameripure oysters suck. Give me the plain old Appalachicola oysters. Very few people get sick on them compared to other food borne illnesses. Those with weakened immune systems and liver disease shouldn’t touch them.
